Wakefield Council is hosting six weeks of free family activities at district markets this summer, from 25 July until 29 August 2026.
Summer FunFest 2026 will feature interactive experiences and entertainment designed for children of all ages. The programme includes dinosaur-themed days with walkabout dinosaurs, circus workshops, giant games, space-themed adventures, face painting, creative crafts and family movie screenings.
Where events are taking place
Activities will be hosted across five locations: Castleford, Wakefield, Pontefract, Ossett and South Elmsall.
Why the programme is running
The council said the initiative encourages families to visit local markets, spend time in their communities and discover independent businesses in town centres.
