Wakefield Trinity have won their first Super League Grand Final, beating Warrington Wolves 23-10 at Old Trafford on Saturday 3 October 2026.
The result makes Trinity only the sixth club to win the Super League Grand Final. Wakefield Council has arranged a city-centre parade, a civic reception and a fan celebration at Wakefield Exchange to mark the victory on Sunday 4 October.
Wakefield parade and civic reception
The council scheduled open-top buses carrying the players and staff to leave Belle Vue at 1.30pm on Sunday 4 October. Under the announced arrangements, the team is due at Wakefield Town Hall around 3pm for a civic reception.
The published route starts along Kirkgate, then follows The Springs, Westmorland Street, Northgate, Rishworth Street, Cliff Parade, Drury Lane, Westgate and Marygate. It returns through Northgate, Rishworth Street, Cliff Parade, Drury Lane and Westgate before finishing on Wood Street.
Supporters have been encouraged to line the city-centre route and welcome the team home. The Town Hall reception is for the players and staff; the separate event at WX offers fans another opportunity to celebrate.
Free ticketed celebration at Wakefield Exchange
The fan event at WX, also known as Wakefield Exchange, is scheduled for 4.30pm to 5.30pm on Sunday 4 October.
The council says the programme includes player appearances, speeches, photograph opportunities and Grand Final highlights on the venue's big screens.
Admission is free, but a ticket is required. Tickets were offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and entry cannot be guaranteed without one. Fans can check availability through the official Wakefield Trinity celebration booking page.
Road closures and travel advice
Temporary road closures announced for the celebrations include Westgate, Marygate and Wood Street. The council has advised drivers to avoid the parade route between 1.30pm and 3pm where possible and allow extra time for journeys.
These are the arrangements announced for Sunday 4 October, rather than a recurring event. Supporters travelling to the later WX celebration should check the booking information before setting off.
Council welcomes historic achievement
Councillor Karl Johnson, Leader of Wakefield Council, congratulated the club and praised the investment and commitment of owner Matt Ellis and his family since taking over in 2023.
He also recognised head coach Daryl Powell's role in Trinity's progress from the Championship to Grand Final winners and encouraged residents to join the welcome-home celebrations.
Councillor Lukasz Borcz, Cabinet Member for Culture and Sport, paid tribute to the players, coaching staff, ownership, behind-the-scenes team and supporters for their part in the achievement.
