Wakefield Council has reopened Ossett's Church Street play area following a £99,000 investment in new and improved equipment.
The revamped site now features a wide range of play options designed for different ages and abilities. New additions include an in-ground trampoline, double slide, group swing, toddler adventure unit, wheelchair-accessible roundabout, basket swing, and spinning seesaw.
New features for imaginative play
A bespoke shop roleplay game and colourful butterfly game station have been added to encourage imaginative play. The site also includes refurbished existing equipment such as the climbing net and junior multi-play unit.
Features for parents and carers
New benches have been installed for parents and carers to sit while children play. A multigenerational group swing allows parents and grandparents to join in the fun alongside children.
Accessibility and layout
The layout has been carefully planned to make it easy to move around and enjoy different types of play across the site. The improvements are part of Wakefield Council's ongoing work to provide high-quality play spaces that support children and families across the district.
