The old Westgate Station car park in Wakefield will temporarily close from 2 to 23 November 2026, the council has announced.

The closure will allow ground surveys to take place as part of preparations for a planned development on the site.

Wakefield Council says the work is expected to take around three weeks. It plans to reopen the car park once the surveys are complete and keep it available for public use until building work begins.

Alternative parking

Drivers who normally use the old station car park should plan an alternative during the closure. The council says other parking is available across the city centre.

Details of council car parks, locations and parking arrangements are available on the council’s parking information page.
