Farmer Copleys, the family-run farm shop and events business between Pontefract and Featherstone, has been shortlisted for three regional family business awards.

The Wakefield district business is a finalist in the Agri-Business, Large Retailers & E-Tailers and Large Leisure & Tourism categories at the Yorkshire, Humberside and North East Family Business Awards 2026.

All three nominations appear on the award organiser's published finalist list. Winners will be announced on Friday 13 November at The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.

Recognition across farming, retail and visitor activities

The shortlist covers different parts of the business, from its agricultural roots to the farm shop and its visitor events.

Farmer Copleys operates at Ravensknowle Farm on Pontefract Road, with a cafe, function space and events centre alongside the shop. Wakefield Council's visitor website lists it as a family-run business between the two towns.

Heather Copley credited staff for the achievement, saying the recognition belonged to the wider team as well as the family.

“We're incredibly proud of what we've achieved, and it's all down to the hard work, passion and dedication of our amazing team.”

In its release, the business said it regarded its staff as part of an extended family and welcomed being shortlisted alongside other family-run firms from across the region.

Judging ahead of November's ceremony

Finalists will receive a visit or video call from a panel of judges before the winners are selected, according to the awards release.

The nominations are shortlist places rather than award wins. They put Farmer Copleys alongside other regional businesses in each category ahead of the November announcement.

The full shortlist is available on the Family Business Awards' 2026 finalists page. Location and venue information can be found through Wakefield Council's Experience Wakefield listing.
