Council warning residents to be on their guard against scammers

Wakefield Council has warned residents to be on guard against scammers using the number 0345 603 1539, one of the council's automated numbers.

The council has clarified that it does not contact people from this number. It also does not ask for card details over the phone under any circumstances.

What to do if you receive a call

Residents should not accept any calls from 0345 603 1539, even if the number appears on their phone as Wakefield Council. They should not provide card details to anyone claiming to be from Wakefield Council.

Anyone who is a victim of a scam should report it to Action Fraud via www.actionfraud.police.uk
