Wakefield Council is encouraging residents to prepare for emergencies through the national "30 Days, 30 Ways UK" campaign running throughout September.

Emergencies such as severe weather, power cuts, accidents, and illnesses can occur unexpectedly. Recent devastating fires affecting communities across the country have highlighted the importance of being ready before a crisis occurs.

Why Prepare?

Having an emergency plan reduces panic and stress, and keeps individuals and families safe and well. This is especially important if emergency and back-up services are under pressure and response times are delayed.

Campaign Resources and Activities

The "30 Days, 30 Ways UK" campaign offers daily challenges throughout September to help residents get prepared. Fun activities for children are also available, alongside weekly podcasts that can be listened to live or on YouTube.

The podcasts help residents understand risks, get informed, make a plan, and protect themselves, their families, and their pets.

How to Get Involved

Residents can follow the campaign on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Wakefield Council will share emergency preparedness tips on its Facebook page throughout the campaign.
