Wakefield Council has appointed Development Delivery Consultancy (DDC) to help plan and deliver hundreds of new homes at Stansfield Road and Wheldon Road in Castleford.
The appointment allows the project to move forward, with housing developers now able to register their interest in the sites. Land at both locations was earmarked for new housing in 2012 and is included in the Wakefield District Local Plan, which was adopted in 2024.
About the consultancy
DDC was founded in 2003 and is based in Yorkshire. The company specialises in bringing forward large residential schemes and helping landowners unlock development opportunities. DDC previously worked on the City Fields urban extension in Wakefield and has delivered successful schemes in Leeds, Doncaster and London.
Darryl Barker, Managing Director at DDC, said the company is "looking forward to working closely with Wakefield Council to develop plans for these important sites and facilitate the future delivery of much needed homes."
Separate from central Castleford regeneration
The Stansfield Road and Wheldon Road schemes will be brought forward separately to the recently announced Strategic Regeneration Project, which focuses on central Castleford.
Next steps
The next stage is to start the public engagement and master-planning process.
